7-17-18 Exploring for Miles

Porter Creek TH 9.4 miles

Making good progress,  decided to go for a little longer ride, up to the C-Line junction.  Wanted to see how the trail across the C-line was

the climbs are really good on the west side of Capitol Forest,
1000 + ft. climb, and thanks to some clearcut spots you can really get some great
views of the valley.
You can see from the chart below, you start out at a little more than 200 ft. and in about 4.5 miles
you are above 1200 ft. nice little work out for the pony.

97% of the trail climbing up the ridge is nice and well kept, there are a couple places
that need a little tlc because of mountain beaver holes, but you can dismount and lead over
these areas.

From Fairgrounds to Riding Across Bridges 6-7/18

And on to the bridge work,, braving up every day.

Barn for Pete & Powder 5/2018

Barn Month

this is the month we pressed hard to get the loft and stalls in, the weather is starting to seem more springish, and the ponies are eager to come home,,,  or I should say I am eager for them to come home.
Denny, has worked very hard on all of this, I can't express my gratitude in words, for there isn't enough words in the human diction!!

Not just the stalls, but fencing has to be built,,, the never ending list of things to do.  Plus working full time.  But he gets it done and it looks amazing!!

We leveled out the stalls and hauled in sand, before we put the rubber mats down.

We decided to put up temp fencing, so we could determine where we really wanted to put permanent fence lines.  It looks great and the horses are very happy with the new digs.
My stall doors are awesome!!!  and custom to boot!!

wow!!!  looking great!!! and Powder loves it too!!!

 Crupper

Crupper is a good tool to have in the box, and worth more if you can safely use it on your horse...

Clinic to Bingham Creek Trail 3/18/18

Desensitization Clinic & Bingham Creek Trail all in one day!!

The morning started out with a haul down to NanSea Stables for a clinic, Pete was a little snorty but willing to engage in what I asked of him.  Then we went to the outside arena and attempted to maneuver the obstacles out there.  When everyone had there go out there, we stopped for lunch and after lunch, we were to attempt the obstacles on horse back.  But I decided that I would rather go hit the trails so Pete I and loaded up and headed to Bingham Creek.

~The Bingham Creek Trail ~
This trail has to be one of the most beautiful trails,, it has to be brushed out in the late spring and summer, but the rest of the year it is spectacular!!

 Another great ride!!

Back Out on the Trails 3/11/18

 Trails

Yaaa!!!!  Finally back out on the trails, the arena is great, but the trails, are where we really like to be!!

So nice to be back out here on the trails, Pete is always eager and willing to go.  The winter was busy and primarily spent working on the barn and prepping it for the ponies.  Our work was arena work, and ground handling.  What a treat to be outside and getting some miles in.
